Ava Parnass has over fifteen years of experience
as a child/family Psychotherapist. The focus of her New
York City practice is young children, families, and couples.
Ms. Parnass earned her Masters Degree at Columbia University.
Prior to launching her private practice, she worked at
New York Hospital-Cornell in the child psychiatry department
as a Family Therapy Supervisor.
Ava Parnass has lectured and consulted extensively
on infant-to-preschool age children. She has particular
expertise in developmental stages and treatment issues
for children and families. In addition, Ms. Parnass ran
a program at the Westchester Child Day Care Center for
parents and children, aged 0-5, on parenting topics,
family issues, and child development. She also specialized
in crisis intervention for toddlers.
Ms. Parnass co-wrote a book, “Listen to Me,
Please!” Time-In, Not Time-Out with Dr.
Ron Taffel, a 6-time published author of parenting
books. They have created a new technique that encourages
parents and children to identify their feelings, talk
about what truly matters, solve problems and express
their authentic selves early on in life.The book helps
calm down your child, helps you to know your
child better, and helps kids be happier.
The nationally distributed Nick Jr. family
magazine is publishing excerpts from “Listen
to Me, Please!” Time-In, Not Time-Out , appearing
in the Sept. Oct. and Nov. 05 issues. Ms. Parnass
is also in talks with a television producer about
creating an animated television show for children based
on “Listen to Me, Please!” Time-In, Not
Time-Out that would include songs she co-wrote.
Simultaneously Ms. Parnass is pursuing a decade-long
songwriting career. Her lyrics reflect a lifelong passion
for the psychological and spiritual aspects of life,
and aspire to complement the healing force of music.
Her collaborators include some of New York’s most
prominent hit-writers, performers and award-winners,
including Alex Forbes, Eve Nelson, David Wolfert, J.J.
Appleton and Jeff Franzel.
Ava Parnass co-wrote the lyrics for the album “Languishing
in Turbulence” with artist Lorraine Ferro, winner
of a Dove Award for her song, “Adoni.” Their
work was hailed in Good Times Magazine: “Ava
Parnass, the talent- laden CD co-writer, who along with
Ms. Ferro, & producer Teddy Kumpel created most of
the material on this wonderful CD. Ava Parnass’s
lyrics are frank and truthful.” Before writing,
Ava Parnass managed rock bands for seven years. |
